Gutter Guard

Gutter guard is a contentious subject — especially amongst gutter cleaning companies. Here is our honest advice.

We have seen hundreds of gutters fitted with gutter guard where the gutters are still full of dirt and decomposed leaves. The gutters block up, and the guard has to be removed to clean them — costing the home owner hundreds of extra dollars.

For downpipes, we do recommend a guard — it stops them getting blocked and causing problems. Our preferred type is the 'hedgehog' guard, installed in sizes from 300mm to one metre. It is cost effective and easily removed during cleaning.

Remember: if gutter guard is screwed or riveted to your gutters, cleaning becomes costly, as dirt and leaves still find their way in over time. We tell you what actually works, not just what is easiest to sell.
